The 1960’s were five decades ago, but their impact is being felt again in right-now fashion. It started about six months ago, when the spring-into-summer looks began to take a turn for the hippie. Feathers, lace, lattice-work, crochet and other forms from nature became a predominant theme in apparel, moving from cloth pieces to leather.
Now, the trend is moving into jewelry, including bridal jewelry, according to Monty Dalley, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing at Devotion. Bridal rings are appearing with feather motifs, leaf motifs and other bohemian and baroque elements.
With a high-end luxury product like an engagement ring, design trends should be given a classic spin, Monty said. “We typically would apply an element of the trendy design, such as hand-engraving with a lace or ivy look, on the shank [side] of a ring,” he noted. Devotion has also helped customers update their existing ring setting with a new look, while preserving the center stone.
