A diamond engagement ring has been a tradition for generations of happy couples. Here at Devotion, we are honored to have celebrated this happiness with thousands of couples worldwide. They constantly tell us how much they love the rings and the design. Have you ever wondered how a Devotion ring is made?
Our diamond manufacturing expert Monty Dalley, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing, is here today telling us about the journey of a Devotion diamond from the time it is mined to being cut, beautifully polished and set into a Devotion engagement ring.
“Our diamond suppliers come from all over the world,” says Monty, “and over decades we have built up access to a broad range of mine sites with the highest quality of diamonds. The group owner Perry Sporn often travels to the sites himself to check the supply chain and to ensure the quality of diamonds will always be consistently supplied.”
All rough diamonds from suppliers then go through a strict process called the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme, which is an industry process established in 2003 to prevent conflict diamonds from entering the mainstream market. As a highly ethical brand, Devotion always follows this process to make sure each of our diamonds has its own ‘passport’: an authorization which can easily be tracked to its origin.
Hand-selecting the diamonds is the first step in creating a Devotion diamond. Monty emphasized: “The selection is extremely important, as we have to sift through thousands of stones to find the few that meet our unrivaled standards.”
“We then sort the diamonds according to weight, color and clarity. Then they are transferred to our cutting facilities.”
To create a fine diamond is not easy — it requires a high level of expertise. Monty adds: “Our expertise comes from years and years of practice and diamond cutting performance knowledge. That’s why the diamond cut says so much about the brand.”
“Devotion has its own patented round, square and cushion cuts. These patented cuts have been developed over time by experts in the field. Devotion cuts create an inner blaze which can be clearly seen, especially when placed side by side with a non-Devotion diamond. All of our customers can vouch for that – they have seen it with their own eyes.”
In addition to our unique and brilliant Devotion cuts, we set ourselves apart because unlike many other brands depending on outsourcing, we manufacture our own products. Our ring designs are all unique to Devotion, and using our custom software we can make adjustments quickly and precisely so our customers can create truly one-of-a-kind pieces.
We are especially proud that all Devotion jewelry is handcrafted in the USA. Designed in Vermont with a fresh perspective, Devotion engagement rings perfectly complement our unique patented diamonds, each with an inner fire that can almost be described as “alive.”
“Our management team oversees production from the minute the diamonds are delivered here, through the design and the manufacturing processes. The diamond rings that our clients wear are unique and crafted in-house here in the United States,” says Monty.
Devotion engagement rings are also special because, unlike any other, each one is serialized and customizable. We go through so many processes and keep our standards high because we want to ensure that we bring customers the finest, most beautiful rings available. For years we have been keeping our promise to our customers: Devotion is a diamond brand for couples who treasure the extraordinary.
