Occasionally when a customer comes into the store looking for an engagement ring, they already have their preferred diamond shape in mind. In these cases we show the customer a selection based on that preferred shape.
But for those who are still unclear of which shape to choose, Winklette Taylor, our Senior Vice President for Retail Operations, is here to help you choose the perfect shape of diamond that will wow your loved one.
Shape basically refers to the pattern of the diamond when viewed from the top. Diamonds can come in a wide range of shapes: round, cushion, princess, marquise, radiant, emerald, baguette, oval and heart (the list can go on!).
The different diamond shapes
First of all, there is no right or wrong choice when choosing a diamond shape. It entirely depends on your taste and what you think your other half would like the most.
However, based on my experience, the round, princess (square) and cushion are by far the three most popular shapes. My personal favorite is the cushion. Secondly, diamond shape influences price since some shapes are more difficult to produce than others. After you’ve decided on the shape, you continue to narrow down the selection by the cut, weight, purity and color.
Every time we show a customer a round Devotion diamond and let them compare it with other diamonds, the common reaction is: How could it possibly be brighter and have more sparkle? I explain that it’s thanks to the brilliance and inner blaze in the diamond created by our patented Devotion cut.
For example, the round (also called brilliant) diamond typically has 58 facets. The Devotion Round diamond, however, uses a revolutionary new approach to reveal the inner brilliance of our hand-selected stones. Our patented brilliant diamond cut has 70 facets.

Though this process is more time-consuming and complex, we know it’s worth it. A quick look on Twitter or Pinterest will show you just how much every woman loves the sparkle and brilliance of their Devotion diamond. Going one step further, we ensure our diamonds produce an extraordinary sparkle, brilliance and fire not found in the traditional round cut. We are confident in saying this because our customers always come back to us saying how much their now-fiancées love their diamond and how it sparkles so beautifully.
A Devotion Princess diamond ring
Our Devotion patented cuts are not just limited to round diamonds. Meet the Devotion Princess cut. Traditionally, a Princess cut diamond has 47 to 50 facets. Princess cut diamonds are slightly less expensive per carat than round brilliants because cutters do not have to cut off as much material from the rough diamond. The Devotion Princess is a unique and extremely brilliant square design with a remarkable 93 facets. Like the Devotion Round, the Devotion Princess has an incredible inner blaze and with more visible sparkle than a non-Devotion cut.
Last but not least is the Devotion Cushion. With 77 facets and a brilliance that dramatically surpasses the traditional cushion, it’s a popular choice in our store.
The Devotion diamond cuts are perfectly complemented by our unique, customizable, limited edition engagement ring designs.
